Description
In 1996 sculptor David Phillips and the Halvorson Company created the fountain and the bronze historical markers in this restored one acre park along the Freedom Trail in Charlestown.
At the top of the tall slender fountain is a gilded crane standing on a weather vane. The fountain has two basins. A row of codfish spouts water into the top basin which overflows into the larger lower basin. The fountain is in the center of a raised circular base and surrounded by a low cast iron fence with corn cob finials. Around the lower basin is a brick plaza adorned with bronze sculptures of swimming codfish.
